Genus: Schiedeella
Schiedeella is a small group of terrestrial orchids native to the Western Hemisphere: Mexico, the West Indies and Central America, with a single species found in the southwestern United States. The leaves form a basal rosette and are usually absent or withered at the time of flowering. The slender inflorescence has spirally-arranged tubular flowers that often produce a delicate fragrance during the day. The labellum is usually white with crenate margins and often displays a showy red blotch.
