Genus: Sacoila
Beaked Orchid
Sacoila is a small, New World genus of terrestrial orchids distributed in tropical and subtropical regions. These orchids have fleshy roots and thin leaves that form a basal rosette. Leaves may wither before the inflorescence develops. The numerous tubular flowers that develop on the raceme are resupinate and pubescent, and distinguished by a prominent, free-tipped mentum. The flowers range in color from coral red to pink, to a yellow-tan or green and may not fully open.
