Mesadenus is a genus of terrestrial orchids, containing 6 recognized species that are found in Florida, the Bahamas, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Panama and Brazil. The flowers are arranged in a delicately erect inflorescence, partially subtended by several red to green tubular bracts, and present themselves on one side of the rachis. Flowers usually bloom in purplish-green or greenish-brown with tips of floral parts recurved. The roots are few in number with basal, elliptic, or obtuse green leaves. Flowering in February and March, species in this genus can be found in a wide range of habitats, from semi-dry mixed woodlands to rocky terrain.
