Genus: Macradenia

none

Macradenia is a small genus comprised of inconspicuous sympodial epiphytes commonly found in low elevation habitats in the tropical and subtropical regions of the Western Hemisphere. Most species are small, up to 35 cm tall, with clustered, fleshy cylindrical pseudobulbs, usually with a single leaf. Individuals have few-to-numerous inflorescences that arise from the base of the pseudobulb. The small, showy flowers may be dark maroon, pale orange or red to dull yellow with yellow or white margins. The deeply tri-lobed lip has erect side lobes which embrace the club-like shape with a footless column. Several species have the mid lobe distinctively curved to the side.
